The Hobbit Characters in the LOTR Show Get a New Look in the Rings of Power Image

Three of the show's Hobbit characters get a fresh look in a new image from The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. Amazon's upcoming The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, based on J. R. R. Tolkien's renowned novels, is expected to transport audiences back to the beloved fantasy land of Middle-earth. The show is set thousands of years before Peter Jackson's trilogy and promises to reveal new characters, settings, and fights that have never been shown before on screen.

Many of the races found in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power are familiar to fans of the franchise, including mankind, elves, dwarves, and hobbits. The show's first teaser showed some of what viewers may expect from this new take on Tolkien's source material, including the introduction of the Harfoots, a species of Hobbits never before seen on television. The show stars Morfydd Clark as Galadriel, as well as Peter Mullan, Benjamin Walker, Nazanin Boniadi, Lenny Henry, and Cynthia Addai-Robinson, and was created by Patrick McKay and John D. Payne.

In The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, a new illustration from Empire Magazine gives fans a closer look at some of the Harfoot Hobbit characters, including Henry's Sadoc Burrows. Sadoc and two other Harfoots are shown in a dark environment, with Henry's figure gazing off into the distance. Take a look at the new image:

The Harfoots are one of three Hobbit breeds mentioned in Tolkien's original works, the other two being the Stoors and Fallohides. While the new image doesn't reveal much about the Harfoots in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, it does confirm that this new race of Hobbits will have some similarities to Frodo, Sam, Bilbo, and the other Hobbits featured in Peter Jackson's trilogy. The new image suggests that, like the Hobbits in Peter Jackson's trilogy, the Harfoots will live a very basic and peaceful existence, wearing modest clothing and refraining from the more industrial techniques that Dwarves are known for.
